ACADEMIC DEADLINES APPROACH:
You probably know that October 31 is a big day in our class. Not only is it the annual costume parade, but it’s also the due date for two large assignments: Book Projects and cursive boxes. We’ve spent a lot of time in class helping students to pace themselves accordingly. For example, for the book project, we’ve talked extensively about how to make a plan for reading their book in a timely fashion (including an assignment where students created bookmarks that had their reading plan on them), as well as several groups on how to create the final project. This work is primarily meant to be done at home, so the best way you can support your child would be to check in with them about what their specific plan is, and how they’re doing with it. As always, you can find the details of the assignment on our website.
As for cursive boxes, everyone is expected to have successfully completed their cursive box assignments by the 31st. We’ve been working on this assignment since the first days of school, and each student has a planning document in their cursive folder that tells them exactly what they need to do. Each student should know exactly how much they have left to complete, so please check in with your child to make sure they’re on the right track!
Here are some things to ask your child about to give you an idea of what’s been happening in class lately.
