Hello parents and families!
HARRY POTTER TRIVIA THIS FRIDAY NIGHT!!
6-8pm in the auditorium. Donations should be sent in today or tomorrow, please (except for the dry ice).
WE NEED HELPERS. Sign up here to help! There are many ways to donate/help that aren’t too tricksy - it could be something as simple as picking up a Hot-N-Ready pizza for us to sell by the slice. Thanks to all the folks who have already volunteered!
Report Cards are Coming!
Next Tuesday, November 20th, Report Cards will be sent home.
There are two parts to our report cards: a checklist and a narrative. The checklists follow the Grade Level Content Expectations (GLCE) determined by the state. We have tried to simplify the headings, but they are reflective of these GLCEs.
Some people have had confusion when interpreting the checklist. A “C” means that your child consistently does this skill well. The “W” for “working on this” is not meant as a grade, but an observation. In some areas, especially in Language Arts, most of the students are “working on this” as in “learning is an ongoing process”. It just means simply what it says: that your child is working on this area, either individually or with the class. An “I” on the report card is meant to illuminate a specific area that needs to improve, usually indicating that it is an area that is impeding success or needs more effort or support. An item is left blank if we have not yet covered the topic this school year.
The narrative is designed to give a little more personal feedback about your child. There is also a student self-evaluation included, which not only helps you, but also helps your child reflect about his/her own feelings about school.
If you have any questions about your child’s report card, please feel free to contact us.
